Understand the System

Different parts. Different jobs.

A complete LED system works because each part has a defined role. You do not need to choose everything at once, but the parts eventually need to agree with each other.

01 / LIGHTING

The LED lighting creates the result.

Strip type, light output, color, voltage, power demand, and physical construction all begin with the lighting you intend to use.

02 / POWER

The power source supports the load.

The driver or power supply provides the voltage and electrical capacity required by the selected LED lighting.

Power architecture
03 / CONTROL

Controls determine how the lighting behaves.

Switching, wall dimming, controllers, tunable-white systems, and other control methods require compatible system architecture.

User interaction
04 / CONNECTION

Wiring and connections bring the parts together.

Wire, connectors, polarity, feed points, and physical routing form the low-voltage connection between the selected components.

Physical relationship
The project comes first.

Application, environment, lighting requirements, access, mounting conditions, and the intended control experience determine what the system needs before individual products are finalized.

Two Different Sequences

Planning is not wiring.

One sequence helps you make decisions. The other describes how an installed system physically relates. Keeping those ideas separate prevents a lot of unnecessary confusion.

These sequences answer different questions. Use the planning sequence to define a compatible system. Use verified product documentation and installation instructions to determine how the selected components physically connect.
Compatibility Basics

Four ideas prevent most wrong turns.

You do not need the full technical explanation yet. At this stage, remember what needs to agree before the system can be considered compatible.

Voltage

The voltages must match.

A constant-voltage LED strip and its power source need the same rated operating voltage.

Capacity

The power source needs enough capacity.

The connected LED load determines how much electrical power the system needs. Power sizing is based on the actual lighting specification.

Control

Dimmable does not mean universally compatible.

Control method, driver family, lighting type, and system architecture need to support the behavior you want.

Installation

The real space changes the system.

Environment, wire path, connections, mounting, access, feed strategy, and installation conditions all matter after the basic architecture is chosen.
