Magnetic 12V / 24V: Dimmers Guide Sheet 12V 24V Magnetic Drivers
4.5 / 5, i'd knock it down more for value if I found another 0-100 dimmer that was as quiet and worked well as a dimmer without flickering, but I haven't yet.
I've been getting more serious about doing COB lighting, on a real setup that links to a dimmer switch. Got this
It's a bit expensive compared to other lighting drivers i've picked up. However, it's the only setup i've tried so far that's been 100% stable smooth up/down on power.
Considering the heft and the price point, i'm surprised it's not even damp rated.
Mine had no noise either at any level; which is also different compared to the other ones i've tried so far.
Personal pet peeve, didn't like the stranded connectors inside the box; but oh well.
Low Voltage drivers have extreme variations between models makes, types, capabilities and country of manufacture. I recently ordered the 100W 24V Dimmable LED Driver and am pleased with the performance. This 120V-24V transformer is perfect for my low-voltage project that requires constant voltage and precise dimming across a large array of devices including LED COB strips, puck lights, video cameras, video doorbells, and accent lighting.
This 24V driver is a good solution for any 24v application, offering reliability and performance at a very reasonable price. Although it is a magnetic driver (more reliable) not an electronic driver, I recommend it to anyone looking for an efficient and quiet power supply.
PROS:
• No flickering or dimming issues, even at the lowest levels, and it keeps the brightness steady throughout the entire range. I tested it with Lutron dimmers with both LED strips and LED puck lights, and it worked flawlessly, giving smooth, flicker-free dimming.
• Quiet operation. Unlike other drivers, particular magnetic drivers, tend to hum or buzz, especially at lower dimming levels. This unit does not making it ideal for bedrooms and media rooms where quiet is most desired.
• The build quality is excellent (so far), a little like a tank ;-)
• Protection circuitry to guard against overloads and short circuits giving peace of mind knowing it’s both safe and reliable putting in house in locations that you don’t see every day (inside cabinets, on top of crown molding, etc.) as many transformers can get very hot.
• A good choice and for both residential and commercial applications.
CONS:
• Heavy, generally requires hard mounting
• Inside use only, not suitable for outside, porches or garages
• Does not support standard five-option dimming (Triac, 0-10V, 1-10V, 10V PWM, and Potentiometer (RX). However, these are only used in commercial applications
• No instructions (just a nuisance)
• I didn’t order multiple units
Nothing wrong with this product but loses a star on price competitiveness
Four (4) stars for me.
Note
Some manufactures use the terms transformer and driver interchangeably and while they perform very similar functions, transformers change AC voltage levels, while a driver regulates and supplies the precise current or voltage needed for devices like LEDs lights or motors.

This heavy "Magnetic Dimmable Driver" converts 120v AC to 24v DC. You just know that you are getting a quality product when you get it out of the box. I remembered how my dad will just lift the gadget when comparing between brands. He says, "the heavier, the better". It somehow works for me (of course not all the time). But most of the durable products usually are the heavier ones. It performed steadily on my oscilloscope and voltage drops steadily as you lower the AC power supply. This is enclosed in a heavy metal enclosure which is fully sealed. I plan to use it for my outdoor LED lighting.
Easy to set up, and control. This transformer works well with a dimmer. I would recommend the TreatLife outdoor smart dimmer ($25) with Alexa connectivity to take great advantage of this application. I can set it to slowly bring my outdoor lights on over the course of an hour, which takes the landscaping from minimum light at twilight to full bright as it gets completely dark. I have it set to slowly dim starting at about 11:00pm so on the weekends we have a little reminder about how late it's getting. The dimming capabilities are essential for this type of scene. Powers my array of landscape lighting with lots of wattage to spare.
Most outdoor controllers will only come on based on available light, and the one that this device replaces would turn my outdoor lighting on in the middle of the day when it got too cloudy. Now I have a perfect ambience and a modern "Wow factor" to my outdoor lighting.
This LED driver is well made from quality metal material. It appears durable and strudy. The unit is capable of dimming without flicker or hum. An important feature that should not be overlooked is the ETL listing which provides added peace of mind as to the safety with use of this product. The item is as described by the seller. I am very pleased with this product and believe you will be as well. Therefore, Dr. T. highly recommends this product!!
